Cardiology

We had Cutter's Echocardiogram done yesterday and the results are good. He is being diagnosed with Aortic Vavle Stenosis. We will recheck it at 12 months, and every year after that, to make sure that the narrowing is not getting smaller. It is very common in first born, type A males. It also should not effect his ability to play sports, if he chooses to do so.

We were very pleased to see that everything looked good. The Cardiologist spent a good 2 hours looking at everything. Cutter was very patient and let the doctor do what he needed to do for about the first 45 minutes, after that Cutter wanted to play with the machine and such. So the doctor took a break and I was able to put Cutter to sleep. While he was asleep the Doctor came back in and finished the rest of the exam. Once I found out that everything was ok, I was able to relax and be mesmerized to see his heart pumping and doing what it needed to do. What an amazing muscle!

Cutter is responding very well to the breathing treatments, we will continue to do them until Monday, when we go back in for a follow-up.

He is such a sweet little boy and we feel so blessed to have him in our life. Sometimes, I think, it takes eye openers like this to bring you back down to reality and remind you not to take life for granted.

Dear Friend

I have a very dear friend,
Her Mom is dying,
She gave it a good fight.

I can't stop thinking about them,
I pray 100 times day for a miracle,
but then again I don't want her hurting.

I can't get in the blogging mood,
Cutters update will have to wait,
My heart is breaking.

( I know this is Cutter's blog, but thought I would fill you in on why there is no update today)

Sick!

Cutter is sick with walking pneumonia. We are doing breathing treatments 2 times a day. Wednesday we are going for a chest x-ray and finally the ultrasound done on his heart. When I took him to the doctor today, the Cardiologist was able to come in and listen to it. He said that all our questions will be answered on Wednesday. Let hope and pray that all will be good and we will get good results.

He is a trooper when it comes to doing the breathing treatments. He has fallen asleep every time we have done it.

I am having a very stressful week (and it is only Monday). I will try my best to do Cutter's update soon.

Does this look like a sick baby to you??

Having fun with his cousin, Hope!

A new friend?

Maybe?

Granma and Papa Nix are downsizing and recently sold their house, so we will be going over there for the next couple of weekends - helping them go through 25 years and 4 kids worth of stuff. Saturday we tackeld the attic and we found a box full of old stuffed animals. In the box were 3 frogs, 2 green striped and one blue polka dotted. I asked Greg before he even saw what I was talking about what color frog he had and his response was green and grey striped, he was close, it is green and white striped. Made by his Great Aunt Ruby. I asked him if he had a name for his frog and he said he did, but couldn't remember, so we are working on getting him one. Any suggestions??

I brought him home gave him a good bath (twice) and much to my surprise he cleaned up pretty darn well. We introduced Cutter to the frog and Cutter has really taken a liking to him, so we will see if a new friendship is brewing.

The results are in....

I meant to post this before I left for a 3 day trip on Wednesday, but as you probably know there is not always enough time in the day, so here goes:

We had Cutter's 6 month check up on Monday and "little" man weighed in at 20 lbs 8 ounces, he was 28 inches tall (I say "was" because he has probably grown half an inch or so) and has a head circumference of 18 inches! He is in the 90th percentile in all three categories! Doc said everything looked good with his head shape and should only get better, since he is not spending much time on his back anymore. We are still working tummy time, he hates it, but I make him do it. He will thank me one day, when he is crawling for a toy! He is reaching more, but he prefers to do it from a sitting position.

The pediatrician did have one concern with the "little" man. He has a heart murmur that he has yet to out grow. She said that she is not too worried about it, but wants to get a ultrasound just to make sure. The pediatrician's office that we go to was started by a pediatrician that specializes in pediatric cardiology, but he has broken his ankle and will be out of the office until August. We will be calling and making an appointment with him when he returns. Until then she gave us a list of some signs to watch out for, some of the more serious ones include: sweating while eating, and shortness of breath when doing normal activities - none of which Cutter is showing. We will be keeping a eye out for any of the signs, but she assured us she didn't think it was a issue and told us not to lose sleep over it.

This week was my first week to be gone for 2 nights in a row, it was VERY hard for me. I am praying that it gets easier, I don't think it will ever be "easy", but I am hoping that it does get easier. Greg is a wonderful, loving and doting father - I don't worry about him doing a good job, I know he does/will. I hate missing that time with Cutter and Greg. The nights are especially hard for me knowing that I am not here to kiss him goodnight, that makes me sad! But, with time it may get easier.

Once again my camera is full of pictures of Cutter and I haven't had the chance to go and transfer them to a CD. I haven't taken a new picture of him in about a week, I think that is the longest I have gone. But I do have these picture taken last weekend at a Fourth of July party!

Enjoy!!

Intensely staring at Daddy in the pool, wishing he could get in! He's been having a cough and we didn't want to agitate it, so he didn't get to swim this time.

Standing Cuteness!!

He isn't rolling over yet, but standing, oh yeah he has that down pat!! He can stand against something for a good amount of time and is working on pulling himself up. If he is sitting wants to stand he will rock back and forth til we figure out that is what he wants. It is a matter of time til he is doing it himself!
